Information we collect

We collect information you provide when you create an account, save preferences, submit feedback, or use features that store or share your work. This can include your name, email address, account information, and submitted content.

DSPN also stores recent search history. Searches made while signed out may be associated with your account when you sign in. You can clear your history through the search interface.

Technical information, including IP addresses, browser details, and request logs, helps us operate the services, investigate errors, and prevent abuse.

Public debate records

DSPN collects and organizes publicly available debate information, including participant names, school affiliations, tournament results, judge information, and research materials.

To request a correction, use Contact in the footer and include a link to the record and the information that needs updating.

How we use information

We use information to provide features, maintain accounts, respond to requests, protect the services, and understand their use and performance.

Chop records downloads and launches to help us measure adoption and support different versions of the app. These records may include an installation identifier, platform, app version, launch dates and counts, sign-in status, and the page that referred a download.

Service providers and sharing

We use service providers for hosting, data storage, sign-in, email delivery, collaboration, and analytics. They receive or store information needed to provide those services. For example, an email provider processes the recipient address and message, and a collaboration service processes documents shared through Chop.

When you share content, it becomes available to the people you share it with.

We may also disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect someone’s safety, or defend our legal rights.

Cookies and analytics

Cookies and browser storage support sign-in, saved preferences, and search history.

Optional activity analytics are controlled through Cookie Settings on the website or the analytics setting in Chop. If enabled, activity may be associated with your account information.

Download and installation reporting operates separately from those settings. Download events may also be sent to our analytics provider.

Retention and security

Account records, feedback, and download and installation records are retained on an ongoing basis to support the services. Search history is limited to the 50 most recent entries per account or browser identifier. Public debate records form part of our historical archive.

Files and backups saved on your device remain there until you remove them.

We use safeguards to protect information. Online services carry security risks, and we cannot guarantee the security of every transmission or stored record.

Requests and updates

Use Contact in the footer to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Requests are handled according to applicable law.

We may update this policy as the services change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
